Dangerously Large

One of the things I often worry about when I do cartoons is sometimes some people won't get a joke as they don't know who or what I'm making fun of in the first place. Last weeks was a good example of this, I'm sure quite a few people don't know who LeBron James is, especially if you don't follow basketball, but I did it anyway. Because, well I love basketball. Now this week's cartoon on the other hand, surely everyone, whether they want to admit it or not, knows who Ron Jeremy is right? If you don't know the name than I'm sure you know his face...and his junk. Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Jeremy, I'm certain every man alive has seen at least one porno with Ron in it, women, I don't know, maybe, maybe not. In conducting my 'research' on this cartoon (seriously not as seedy as it sounds, I pretty much just Googled his name) I found out that Ron has his own rum! http://www.rondejeremy.com/ Wow, didn't see that one coming...which is a change as it usually is comon to see when Ron is coming......sorry, couldn't help myself on that one.

The title of this cartoon came from a line in last weeks cartoon (the new Starbucks coffee size being referred to as "dangerously large" http://brinkscartoons.blogspot.com.au/2014/07/egolatte.html), I did want to call it "This is the reason why it doesn't exist" but that was way too long, and I kind of liked the connection to last weeks cartoon as well. These 2 cartoons are similar format comic strips, and the joke makes fun of something of a famous person being large, so why not connect them in another way as well. 

Anyway so this idea was a kind of mash-up of 2 other ideas, one about just how painful it is to stand on Lego pieces, (which if you haven't before, trust me it hurts like hell) and another random idea I had about having a porn star Lego Playset. I've often talked about this, that I sometimes get seemingly unrelated half ideas at different times and at a later date I just happen to think about both and combine them to make a good, usable idea. So never dismiss or throw away ideas people, you never know when they may come in handy.....wait, is there another bad Ron Jeremy pun I can use there as well???

Lending a Hand

Hello. So the idea for this cartoon started out, as they mostly do, as a simple idea, which was pretty much "Lego people using removable body parts for sex". At first it was going to be about Legomen interchanging their wangs, which then lend me to thinking what a Lego 'adult' store would be like (honestly, I still kind of like this idea a bit, one day I may still use it). It was at this point where I hit a speed bump with this idea for a bit, as I think I was overcomplicating it a tad. So after letting the idea rest a bit I resurrected it a few weeks back when I had an idea about a Legoman stealing someone's hand to give himself a 'stranger'....don't know what that is? Well then let my old friend Urbandictionary explain: 

stranger
	The act of sitting on one's hand for 20 minutes to make it go numb, and proceeding to jerk off with that hand. This will give the feeling of a hand job from someone else. I gave myself the stranger many times in college.

As you can see, sometimes simplifying an idea sometimes makes it better. Now although this pretty much is the final idea, it took me awhile to get a good visual of it in my mind. I knew I wanted to essentially have the joke about a guy stealing his room mates hand, but it wasn't until a few days ago when I was brainstorming ideas when pretty much this exact image just popped into my head when I read over the idea. I was so happy when I got it out too! I love the "Thwap, Thwap, Thwap" noise too, not sure if that is the official jerking off sound, but for my cartoons it is now! Expect it to return....

Now, what other pop culture icons can I sexualize in a cartoon? I actually have a rough idea about GI Joe and his 'kung-fu grip' that I need to nut out one day, any others?
