My Christmas drawing, part 2 of 2. I really enjoyed doing these I must admit, and I really like this style. Hope you like it.

The Naughty List

It's almost here! Yep it's almost Christmas time, so I thought I'd stick with that theme again this week, just from a more general perspective as opposed to a negative one like last week. Just to show both sides. I always knew that I was going to do another Christmas themed cartoon this week, but the idea was a hard one.

It started out as Santa in a strip club being really seedy and telling a stripper that he has a "sack full of special presents for naughty girls like her". Now the problem I had with that, was that it ended up looking like a seedy old dude dressed up as Santa, which is kind of more creepy than anything. I played around with the "sack full of presents" idea for a bit and thought that maybe it's Santa who's the problem and that maybe I could use Elves instead as they won't look like anything other than an Elf. So the first idea then was two elves going to all the houses of the women on the naughty list and asking them if they wanted some of Santa's special presents from his full 'sack'. But then I thought about the elves and the naughty list and what if just one randy elf grabbed the naughty list and visited all the women on it trying to find a date?

Admittedly, this idea is a lot more 'cleaner' than the first idea, which was not on purpose, trust me. I think I just enjoyed this idea more than the overall joke of the first idea, but I still do like that first idea of Santa trying to 'unload' his 'full sack' and I may variate it somewhat and use it next Christmas!

Anyway, better go, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and you get to drink and be merry! Have a good one!

Welcome to Hell

It's getting to the business end of the year now and that big day of food and presents is all most upon us. But not just that, Christmas time is of course a time for shopping! Insanely overcrowded and painful shopping. I've been working in video-game retail for...wow about 10 years now, man that's depressing....Anyway, since working in retail I've developed a deep dark dread for this time of year, but since having children that's all changing. Not just because I get to play with toys and video-games on Christmas morning again, but because ever since my first son was born I've become a stay-at-home dad and I now only work in retail for 12 hours a week, so my exposure to the 'silly season' is at least at manageable levels. Well enough to still annoy me, but not make me go completely mental. And honestly I'm trying to get back into the 'festive spirit' this year more and rediscover my love of Christmas, as the years go by I'm sure I'll be a "Christmas person" once again.

So then why did I just do a cartoon about how bad Christmas in retail is? Well, I was inspired by one of my former co-workers Paul, who has a very deep-seeded hatred for all things Christmas and posts lots of anti-Christmas stuff on his Facebook that is really funny. So I thought I'd 'regress' a bit and think back to how much I hated Christmas and I came up with this idea. Now the guy in this doesn't really look a lot like Paul, but I was thinking about him when I drew it so it does a little, but I also thought I'd give him a nod for the inspiration by putting his name on the guys name tag as well, so I hope you like it Pauly!

But seriously though, shopping and working in retail on Christmas Eve is really freakin' bad and if I had to do that for an eternity, that probably would be hell that's for sure....especially if all that was played was Christmas carols over and over, man they grate on me after awhile. I'm sure this would be Paul's hell that's for sure!

Tried something slightly different this week, the speech bubble was meant to be over top of the bottom of the cartoon, but as it's such a large amount of text it covered up too much! I was going to just have it as a caption on the bottom, but I didn't like that so I just did a speech bubble at the bottom off the panel instead! Hell, why not? That's always the problem with doing the text on the computer after I've drawn it, sometimes you end up losing some artwork which bugs me, especially after I've spent so much time doing it. This one in particular I really wanted to show the background was hell and behind the characters was the inside of a shopping mall and anywhere I tried to place the bubble just blocked to much of that.

Until next time!

Lesser Known

Merry Christmas everybody! Kind of, I'm a day or so early I know, but this week's cartoon is an Christmas themed one so I thought it was appropriate.

So I was tossing up a few ideas for my Christmas themed cartoon this week. I was actually going with a 'naughty/nice' Santa type gag, until I came up with this one. I mean, you know me, it's not like I'll do a lovely, nice, family friendly Santa joke now would I? Hell no, straight to the dick jokes for me! It's my bread and butter after all....well genitalia in general I guess.

When I first brainstormed this idea it was just the basic idea that Rudolf has a lesser known brother with a glowing red dick. It wasn't until I was thinking over it yesterday that the final idea came to me, I really liked the idea of his brother working in porn and using my favourite "I've come to clean zee pool" line. As soon as I had that visual in my head I knew I had my Christmas idea done.

So, I hope you all have a great Christmas! See you soon!

Junkie Santa

I hope you all had a great Xmas! I drank lots, ate lots and pretty much relaxed it was awesome and how it should be. So because of that once again I'm dishing up and old cartoon from my vault, and sticking the holidays theme. I hope you like it! I'll be back next week with a brand spanking new cartoon for your viewing pleasure.

Have a happy holidays!

It's My Birthday

So, my original plans for today, as I said last week, was to drawn a Xmas themed cartoon for today and another one for next week. Well, unexpected things happened...as they do and my plans all went to shit. My son Dash got sick and couldn't go to daycare today like he usually does every Monday, so I didn't get any spare time to do new 'toons :-( So if you haven't already guessed it, this is an old cartoon from the Brinks Vault of goodness. I do have a Xmas themed cartoon idea all ready to go to, oh well I'll see what I can muster up by next week. But don't hold your breath as I'm working night shifts at work on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and on Friday I start at 9pm and finish 9am the next day! Yes, once again the shopping centre where I work is doing it annual 36 hour trade bullshit. But on the plus I now have Monday off, which is boxing day, the biggest Australian shopping day of the year, sweet. So now I get to be all blokey and Aussie by spending the day watching Cricket and drinking beer...hell yes. So I'm not going to have a massive amount of spare time in the next week, or I've got better shit to do, but I'll see what I can do, but I'm seriously not promising much.

Not much to say about this cartoon, I just liked the idea of Jesus being pissed at Santa for stealing all his thunder on Xmas day, his birthday. It must suck having a birthday on Xmas day, you'd never get to have a decent party or anything and you'd probably get jipped on the amount of gifts you get too. Who would win in a fight between Jesus and Santa anyway? The great fictional character smackdown! I'd pay to see that, especially if that daddy's boy Jesus got smashed.

Alrighty, I hope you all have a great Xmas and get to drink and be merry. And please remember do your freakin' shopping early, don't leave it until a 36 hour trade night you but-holes! And just because you've been shopping for hours, your tired and over it, don't take it out on us poor retail people you selfish douches. Have a good one!
